Pavesage — Privacy Policy

Pavesage ("we", "us") provides a sensor-based driving assessment app with per-trip coaching. This policy explains what data the app handles, what leaves your device, and what does not.

Summary

• Your raw driving data — GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope — stays on your phone. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
• Only derived aggregate statistics are sent to our actuarial server to produce your assessment.
• Our server is stateless: it does not retain, log, or store the data you send.
• We do not sell your data. Ever.

Data stored on your device

The app records and stores the following locally on your phone:

• Location data (GPS): raw coordinates recorded during trips, used to compute driving distance, speed, night-driving percentage, and route characteristics.
• Motion data: accelerometer and gyroscope traces, used to detect hard braking, harsh acceleration, and sharp cornering.
• Trip summaries: per-trip statistics derived from the above.
• App preferences and entitlement state: your settings and whether you have purchased the assessment.

All of the above is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage area. It is not accessible to other apps. It is not backed up to our servers. It is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app or clear the app's storage.

Data transmitted to our server

When you request an assessment, the app sends a single HTTPS POST request to our actuarial server. This request contains derived aggregate statistics computed on your device — summary metrics such as event rates, percentages, and totals. It does not contain raw sensor data, GPS coordinates, routes, trip timestamps, device identifiers, or user identifiers.

Our server processes these statistics and returns an assessment result. The server is stateless: it does not write the received data to disk, does not log it, and does not associate it with you or any identifier. No account is required, and no user profile is created.

Third parties

• Google Play Billing: if you purchase the assessment, Google processes the transaction. We receive only a purchase confirmation — no payment card details. Google's handling of your data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
• Render (hosting): our actuarial server runs on Render. Render may process routine connection metadata (IP address, request time) for operational purposes as part of hosting the service. This is not used by us for any purpose.
• Expo: the app is built and distributed using Expo's tooling. Expo does not receive your driving data. If the app uses Expo's update service, Expo may receive standard device information for delivering updates.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party, except as described above.

Children

Pavesage is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your choices

• You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app.
• You can revoke location and motion permissions at any time in your device settings. Doing so will disable the assessment.
• Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage permanently deletes all on-device data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
